I'm not positive what it would be exactly, but do know it would be for my oldest son. He would love the fabric. I think it would be a lap quilt, but might be something else he could use to carry things to work in also.

Everyone has posted the greatest ideas. I would add, pincushions, rice bags - long ones to wrap across both shoulders, sleep patches. I really liked the idea of men aprons.
